01

The brief

A small public pavilion for readings, music and quiet afternoons in a city garden, open to everyone and easy to maintain.

02

The approach

A timber roof on slender columns, open on three sides, with a single closed wall for the stage. The floor steps down gently so people can sit on the edges.

03

The outcome

The pavilion hosts more than 200 events a year and is used every day by people simply sitting out of the rain.
